A 22-member high resolution (4-km) ensemble of WRF forecasts is being run for the Northwest of the continental United States. The domain covers all of Washington, Oregon, and Idaho as well as the northern parts of California, Nevada, and Utah, and the western portions of Wyoming and Montana. Model runs out to 72 hours are run twice-daily with initialization and boundary conditions at 0 UTC and 12 UTC provided by the 0.25-degree GFS model, 10 GEFS members, the U.S. Navy NAVGEM model, the UKMET model, the Australian GASP model, the Canadian GEM model, the French Arpege model, and several physics suites using the GFS. Probabilistic and calibrated products are being provided and further developed in order to assist NWS forecasters in critical decision-making weather forecasts.
Feedback from NWS personnel can be directed to David Ovens.
